TB incidence stabilized at pre‑COVID levels
In 2024, the TB incidence rate in the Western Pacific Region was estimated at 131 per 100 000 population (95% uncertainty interval: 112–152). WHO reports that TB incidence rates have returned to pre‑COVID (2020) levels, following increases observed during the pandemic period. This stabilisation represents a critical milestone, demonstrating recovery of TB prevention and control efforts in a Region that includes several high‑burden settings.

Expanded access to WHO recommended rapid diagnostics
Countries across the Western Pacific Region have continued to expand access to WHO recommended rapid TB diagnostics, including molecular tests and innovative screening approaches such as digital chest X ray. WHO highlights this expansion as a key area of regional progress, supporting earlier diagnosis, faster treatment initiation and reduced transmission. Scaling up these tools has been particularly important in reaching underserved populations and strengthening primary health care based TB services
